Nila Ebrahimi, a teenage Afghan education activist, has been named among the 17 Young Leaders for the 2025 class of the United Nations` Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - a global recognition honoring exceptional young changemakers driving progress toward a better world.

According to AnsarPress, the UN Office on Youth announced that the 17 leaders were selected from more than 33,000 applications representing 150 countries worldwide.

In its official statement, the UN Youth Office noted that the selected leaders, aged between 16 and 33, include founders of organizations, social mobilizers, peacebuilders, entrepreneurs, and creative innovators working across diverse sectors.

The UN emphasized that the 2025 cohort will focus on key areas of the Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, human rights, climate action, and global peace and security.

Felipe Paullier, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, praised the group, stating:

"The 2025 Young Leaders for the Sustainable Development Goals represent the courage, creativity, and commitment of youth who are creating real change around the world."

He added that these young leaders "not only respond to today`s global challenges but are actively shaping the future."

Nila Ebrahimi, an Afghan-born teenager now residing in Canada, is widely recognized for her advocacy of girls` education. She serves as the founder and president of *Her Story Foundation*, an organization dedicated to empowering girls through storytelling and access to education.

Last year, Ebrahimi was awarded the International Children`s Peace Prize by the KidsRights Foundation, an international organization promoting children`s rights and youth leadership.

Her inclusion among the UN`s 2025 Young Leaders marks a powerful symbol of Afghan girls` resilience and determination amid ongoing restrictions on women`s education in Afghanistan, highlighting how young Afghan voices continue to inspire global action for equality and justice.
